Today's blog post has me feeling all types of emotions...... I started off happy and excited, then moved to feeling indifferent about posting. I now feel like crying and I'm getting stressing out ..... How did my family see me? They saw all three of those faces in the picture above. But.... if I was working on this post with other people around me, what would they see? I think it would be the last face in the picture. Smiling, trying to not let them see I'm stressed. I blame my Scandinavian/English ancestors. Even though I have never met them, they have passed down behavior. How we express our emotion depends on our culture.
Professor Ivers at Brigham Young University-Idaho, stated that Asian countries are less likely to show emotion in public. Unlike Latin culture and Middle Eastern culture who share how they are feeling in public. He believes that the United States is somewhere in-between. We differ from one end of the country to the other. In our sacrament meetings we have a sister that says AMEN when she feels moved or likes what was said. I LOVE IT. I was not use to anyone sharing out loud how they felt and I wish more people would do it.
I hope that when I see someone sharing an emotion that is "not what I would do" I would be loving and remember that we all express our emotions differently.
